about Tideland

Tideland is a lifestyle magazine celebrating the vibrant communities and creative spirit that define the shoreline towns of the West Sound, a stunning region of natural beauty nestled between mountain wilderness and inland sea. We’re close to Seattle, yet a world apart—a place where star chefs and homesteaders feel equally at home.

Each quarterly print issue of Tideland features gorgeous photography and design with thoughtful content reflecting a deep connection to sea and land that unites this region. We introduce readers—both residents and visitors—to enticing getaways, unique homes, home-grown businesses, community leaders, as well as a dynamic food, wine and arts scene. While showcasing the area’s creativity and community, Tideland is also committed to delivering in-depth journalism on social and environmental issues like housing, equity, inclusion and conservation.

Alorie Gilbert, Publisher & Editor, established her journalism career covering some of Silicon Valley’s most dynamic personalities and influential companies for online news pioneer CNET. With a move to Bainbridge Island, she became passionate about community journalism and bringing to life the stories of fascinating personalities and places around Puget Sound. She launched Tideland in 2022 to bring a fresh voice to the Washington media landscape. When away from her desk, Alorie can be found shuttling her kids to school by e-bike, exploring local trails and waterways, and fine-tuning her downward dog.

Lindsay Fournier, Art Director, is a Pacific Northwesterner through and through. She knew she wanted to be a graphic designer even before computers were a household item. She designed her first magazine in 2000 and fell in love instantly. In addition to Tideland, Lindsay has art directed two publications with a circulation of over 300,000 and designed a national newsstand magazine. On her days off, Lindsay adores local grub, music, and being outdoors with friends and family—preferably around a campfire.

Laura Liming, Director of Sales, is a seasoned pro at supporting local businesses and boosting their visibility in the community through her previous roles at The Bainbridge Island Review, Pegasus Coffee and Skookum Clothing. Laura studied journalism at the University of Oregon and has years of experience in print and online advertising. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, learning new languages, volunteering and rescuing dogs. .
